Come one, Come all!

Happy '07, everyone! (For the local crowd. . . ) I will be installing some work in the All Purpose room of the Boor Sculpture Studio during the second week of January. I will be documenting my work most likely around the 16th, so feel free to come take a peek. Your comments are more than welcome. Hope to see you there!

an-ti-quat-ed

The other day I was in a mom-and-pop style carpet store looking for a particular type of remnant. I see this wonderfully old cash register and decide to snap a quick pic while I'm waiting. (See how it is juxtaposed with the credit card sign?) The gentleman waiting on me didn't bat an eyelash and then when I paid cash he actually used the darn thing! And here I thought it was just for show. Silly me.

Parking. . .NYC Style!

And to think that it costs $200+ a month to park there! Although, stick a port-o-potty in your car and you'd have the cheapest apartment in the city! (Perhaps a roomier one, too).

Location, location, location!

I'll admit it is quite an amusing sign, but did they really think that a passerby would see it and exclaim, "Flood Plain Industrial Park?! Eureka! That's exactly where I need to build my next warehouse or business!"

Advertising Executive Wanted. . . no experience necessary!

"Send me something, Mister!"

I'm currently working on a piece called Dissemination and I'm wondering how this would work in reverse.

So. . . send me your stuff. What has been lying around that you are finally ready to get rid of? What mementos have you kept and why? Send me something that used to mean a lot to you and tell me about it. I want cool stuff, dumb stuff, average stuff or just plain weird stuff. It makes no difference.

Send stuff to: PO Box 13521, Albany, NY 12212. Just don't forget to tell me the story behind the object!

For All You Bob Barker Addicts Out There. . .

Hitting "SCAN" on the car radio this morning, I couldn't believe my ears. . . a radio broadcast of "The Price is Right". Huh? In which alternate dimension did I awake this morning?

Is this something new or am I the last one to know? Are there other game shows broadcast over the radio? It seems to me that there is a fundamental component missing in this type of format - the wacky visuals, of course! I'm talking about those zany t-shirts worn by audience members desperate to guess the price of a bottle of Tums in the hopes of winning a car. Or what about the deliberately overacted gestures by the models during a Showcase Showdown narrative?

Gotta love it.
